Winemakers, across the board are rethinking viticulture, and redefining their processes and continuously positioning Bordeaux as one of the most prestigious wine regions globally.A growing number of producers have embraced organic and biodynamic agriculture, moving away from the once-standard use of 100% new oak. Many now ferment in concrete vats, seeking wines that are more vibrant, expressive, and somewhat accessible.Bordeaux is poised to reaffirm its greatness, offering wines that don’t require decades of cellaring, but instead can be enjoyed sooner, and pair beautifully with contemporary cuisine, without sacrificing their signature depth or longevity.
From a climatic and agricultural standpoint, 2024 presented challenges.
Heavy rainfall in June and September created pressure from downy and powdery mildew, significantly reducing yields across the region.Yet, Bordeaux’s producers transformed adversity into opportunity. Lower yields led to greater concentration, producing wines of remarkable precision and depth.The 2024 vintage is exceptional; marked by pure, focused fruit, never overripe, tannins that are seamless and well-integrated, and vibrant notes of spice and balm bringing energy and length to the palate.
We are witnessing a rare vintage, unlike many in the past few years.
The wines are ready to enjoy today, while still offering the structure to age gracefully over the next 20 years.The aromatics are lively and energetic, with a powerful yet refined presence.
